Recruiting Software Can Streamline Hiring Process.

At many companies, the employee recruiting process can be as trying for the office doing the hiring as it is for applicants. A candidate fills out an application, goes home, comes back for drug screening, goes home, comes back for interviews, goes home, comes in for a second interview and so on. Documentation flies from interviewer to hiring manager to executive, from location to location, maybe even overseas. The process means a lot of back and forth, and a lot of paper.
If that describes your company's recruiting process, consider Employ!, a web-based hiring system from Deploy Solutions Inc., of Westwood, Mass. Employ! eliminates paperwork and the need for multiple trips by candidates. It manages interviewing and pushes out the right information at the right time to recruiters, hiring managers and interviewers and, in the process, makes life easier for candidates. In short, it streamlines your hiring process.
Nicole Stata, Deploy president and CEO, says the company works to understand a customer's business process.
What It Does
Like other Internet-based applications, you gain access to Employ! using your web browser. After you log onto the program, you see a welcome screen showing a list of tasks. The options depend on your role in the hiring process. The recruiter, of course, has access to all the functions in the hiring process.
"Approvers, hiring managers and interviewers also have their interface," says Susan Burkett, a senior product consultant at Deploy, as well as co-founder of the company. Employ! provides these decision-makers with multiple tools. The hiring manager, for instance, may have the option of searching candidates--an activity other packages reserve for the recruiter.
Initial tasks for a hiring manager could include providing feedback on an interview, reviewing a requisition or sending out correspondence or postings. Click to review interview results, for example, and you can see a list of your company's competencies, the candidate's scores on each competency and an average score.
Using the Livelink search engine from Open Text, Employ! lets you search by keyword, and by job or requisition. "It's a full-text search engine with natural language processing built in," Burkett says.
David Egan, director of staffing at Synopsys Inc. in Mountain View, Calif., says, "One of the coolest search features is one that lets you say 'show me more like this' when you have an ideal candidate already on your staff."
